The ceremony was attended by His Excellence the Governor Tim Foy and the Patron Dr. Dana Foy.

Over the years, Anguilla Red Cross volunteers have been a growing part of our community. Their extraordinary contributions were recognized in 2017, after hurricane Irma, by British Red Cross when the organization was awarded with the highest honour in the Red Cross movement: the ‘Henry Dunant Award’. This award recognizes the outstanding service and acts of great devotion by the volunteers.

The honourees were:
Volunteer of the Year
• Jiva Niles
• Cleve Whyte
• Cecil Griffiths
• Frank Cannon
• Louis Bryan

Humanitarian of the Year
• Dawn Harrigan
• Ricky Rouphine
• Devon Carter
• Monique Webster
• Jiva Niles
Jiva Niles and Dawn Harrigan were given the award for the Volunteer of the Year, and the Humanitarian of the Year, respectively – while the other Volunteers received Certificates of Recognition.
We would like to say a heartfelt thank you to all our sponsors: Leroy Vanterpool, St. James Medical School, DJ Chu Chu Benz, Sagis Law Firm, Hendricks Richardson, Sabrina Gumbs and Larry’s Catering, for their willingness to partner with us to make this event a success.
The Anguilla Red Cross remain committed to the Anguillian community. We continue to provide humanitarian support to build stronger communities through our various programmes. Volunteering provides a great opportunity for us to play a constructive role in strengthening communities and giving voices to those who are vulnerable. Our doors are always open, and we welcome new volunteers.
