During the past several weeks, Belmond Cap Juluca leaders and employees have been busy attending training courses designed to help both long-term and new employees to become better service guests while offering each attendee a unique career development opportunity. Ameya Nagarkar, the new Learning & Development Manager for Belmond Cap Juluca, led the training courses for both leaders and line level employees.
The first class, a first for Julucans, was The Belmond Art of Hosting module for which we covered the senior leadership team of 15 pax, which will be repeated with all employees throughout the season. Art of Hosting is the perfect marriage of the Belmond brand, combined with the local customs and traditions of Anguilla that make the property so unique. This course runs for close to 6 hours and will be offered to the property’s front of house employees throughout the season.
The second course series, called The Belmond Art of Leadership, was offered to all of Cap Juluca’s leadership team, with a particular focus on front line supervisors and the property’s understudies. This three-day course serves as a foundation to the Belmond leadership modules that will continue to expand throughout the season, focusing on The House of Belmond (company’s vision and mission), collaboration, adaptability, driving results and emotional intelligence amongst other leadership skills. Supervisors spent three full days discussing these topics and the opportunity to enjoy the training. We facilitated this training for over 60 leaders!
On October 21 and 22, all Belmond Cap Juluca employees were invited to participate in the Belmond Art of Induction, a two-part course covering the basics of being a Julucan, or an employee of Belmond Cap Juluca. On the first day, employees enjoyed a welcome back barbeque with local foods and great prizes for attendees. This was an exciting way to welcome back all of the Cap Juluca employees for the start of the 2019-2020 season and we trained a total of over 300 employees!
On Wednesday, October 30, the day prior to re-opening, the property will host a scavenger hunt beautification day with and “enjoying the last moments before re-opening” barbeque as a celebration before kicking off the season
