As the countdown begins for the Anguilla Country Conference 2019, the Anguilla Social Security Board has again demonstrated its support with a contribution of US$2,000.00. Public Relations and Marketing Officer Ms. Rosanna Browne handed over the cheque to Conference Committee members, Dr. Phyllis Fleming-Banks, Ms. Jansie Webster and Ms. Avon Carty on Wednesday, 16th October.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Ms. Browne said that Social Security Board was pleased to support the Conference, because the papers are designed to stimulate and highlight research on the Anguilla. Manager for the UWI Open Campus British Overseas Territories and Chairperson of the Organising Committee, Dr. Phyllis Fleming-Banks expressed appreciation on behalf of the Committee and applauded the Social Security Board for its continued support.
The Anguilla Country Conference 2019 is scheduled for 23-25 October at La Vue Hotel under the theme “Communities at Crossroads: Change the Thinking, Change the Future”. It is free and open to the public and will begin with an Opening Ceremony/Reception on the evening of 23rd October at 7:00 p.m. with a keynote address by Mrs. Janine Edwards. The Conference will continue on Thursday 24th and Friday, 25th October with the presentation of the papers by some twenty-three local and regional researchers. The sessions will also include a special Panel Discussion entitled “Whither Anguilla in the Brexit Era” on Friday.
A number of youth, community leaders and representatives, as well as members of the general public are expected to be in attendance and each session will provide an opportunity for the audience to pose questions and/or provide comments
The Anguilla Country Conference is hosted by the University of the West Indies (UWI) Open Campus Anguilla in collaboration with a number of other organisations including the Anguilla Community College, the Anguilla Library Service, the Department of Youth and Culture, The Ministry of Finance, The Anguilla National Youth Council, The Anguilla Chamber of Commerce and Industry, The Anguilla Tourist Board and the Anguilla Social Security Board.
