Bennett’s Construction have been awarded the contract for work on building a new storage area at the Post Office’s parcel storage capacity. The contract was signed on 22 October and Bennett’s started work the same day.
After the signing Postmaster General Mrs Jacqueline Bryan-Niles said “all of us at the Post Office are very happy that this contract has been signed, and that Leonard Bennett and his team started the work straight away. We look forward to having the increased storage capacity, and I am sure our customers will see a positive change in the service we are able to provide”.
In other news. On 18 October Mr James Hughes of Sunrise Construction signed the contract to repair the House of Assembly roof. Mr Karim Hodge, Permanent Secretary MICUHAFE, signed on behalf of the Government. Work started on 19 October. Witnessing the signing were Deputy Speaker of the House, Mr Jose Vanterpool, Deputy Governor Mr Perin Bradley and Project Manager Ms Charlene Hodge.
Work is still going well at Orealia Kelly Primary, and the concrete for the ground floor slab will be poured on 24 October. This will mean that the building work will be visible above ground for the first time, walls next! The tenders were opened for Morris Vanterpool School on Tuesday 22 October and the Evaluation Committee will now work to appoint a preferred bidder in due course. The tender opening for Adrian T Hazell Primary School is scheduled for Tuesday 29 October and Valley Primary School on 5th November 2019. The tender for the reconstruction of the Albena Lake Hodge Comprehensive School will issue later this week.
And finally, work is due to start on the final works at Princess Alexandra Hospital on 28 October. The work will be carried out by two local contractors, PACE Construction (hospital roofing and extension) and Cleveland Richard’s Construction (new storage building and vehicle maintenance bay). The teams at the hospital have been working hard to ensure that works can start and that services are not disrupted.
