“We are proud of how the Horizon Scholarship has aided families” noted Ms. Erimel Franklin, ANGLEC’s Human Resources Manager who spearheaded the program’s creation. “Thousands of dollars in school supplies have been awarded. And as a parent myself, I understand how helpful it is to know that things like shoes, uniforms, books, and other necessities aren’t going to be an issue of concern,” Franklin shared.

In addition to the school supplies, this year students were awarded certificates of honour, as well as a gift bag to express an added element of support and encouragement to them and their families. Collection of items and deliveries of the additional tokens were made between September 13th and 25th, 2019.

ANGLEC and Ms. Franklin are grateful to the following ANGLEC personnel: Sandra Rogers, Vanisha Hodge, Jemila Morson-Hodge, Maureen Woodley, and Elvin Richardson for their support over the years as committee members.

We would also like to thank our community partners who have provided invaluable contributions to the program and the families awarded over the many years: Mr. Sanford Richardson and Mrs. Rhondah Connor (Past Commissioner of Social Development and Past Chief Education Officer, respectively); Ms. Lauraine Gumbs (Commissioner of Social Development); Bren Romney (Chief Education Officer), and the office of Social Development as well as our committed vendor partners, Cynthia’s Place, C&V, Coral Reef Books, Gem Exclusive, Safety Step, and Uneek Supplies.
