When Taizdaze Charity was founded, one of the pressing issues we set our eyes on tackling was the disadvantages that students who are in need of assistance tend to face. We all know of persons who overcame the odds and gained a better life in adulthood due to hard work and perseverance. We also know persons who we felt were capable of accomplishing more but often didn’t have what they needed, within and outside of finances.
It is with pleasure that we award Ms. Tyeisha Emmanuel the first ever Taizdaze Charity Book Scholarship, and without a doubt, she deserves it. She came from humble beginnings but refused to accept that as her fate.
Tyeisha Emmanuel is a vibrant, impressive 17-year-old young lady who is currently furthering her education as a student of sixth form at the Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School. Upon completing fifth form, Tyeisha passed nine CSEC subjects, achieving three grade ones in Principles of Accounts, Office Administration, and English A, four grade twos in Mathematics, Integrated Science, Social Studies, and Family and Resource Management, and two grade threes in English B and Spanish.
In addition to excelling academically, Tyeisha is quite active in several other aspects of school life:
-Student representative on the ALHCS Board of Governors
-President of the ALHCS Student Council
-Active member of Pink House sports teams (track & field, football, volleyball)
-Member of the ALHCS choir
-Member of graduation and prom committees
-Minister of Home Affairs in the Anguilla Youth Parliament
-School grounds peacekeeper
-Form class monitor 5A3 (2016-2019)
-Subject class monitor for English (2016-2019)
-First Director of Junior Optimist and Assistant Treasurer (2018-2019)
-Speech night awardee (2015-2018)
As a firm believer in God, Tyeisha worships regularly at the Zion Methodist Church, participates consistently in youth group, and is a Girls Brigade Warrant Officer. She enjoys going to church and sharing the Word of God while touching as many lives as she can in any way she can. Tyeisha never leaves for school without her Bible, and she uses it to share the word of God as she leads class assembly.
One of her most commendable qualities is that of fairness, which drives her to advocate for others and speak out against issues affecting those around her.
Ms. Emmanuel has undoubtedly earned the respect and admiration of her teachers and peers alike through her loving and caring demeanor as well as her leadership qualities. She is responsible, fearless, focused, and progressive. Tyeisha hopes to use these traits to the best of her abilities to become an asset to the development and advancement of her beloved country, Anguilla.
Congratulations Tyeisha! We are very proud of you and your accomplishments and we are all cheering you on as you continue to be a trailblazer.
