Anguilla’s Premier, Mr. Victor Banks, is among some 25 Caribbean Government leaders in New York for private roundtable discussions with former United States President, Bill Clinton.
One of the main agenda items of the regional leaders’ meeting, which opened on Tuesday, September 24, at the Clinton Foundation offices, was to advance the progress being made with their post-hurricane recovery.
Further details of the meeting were given in a press release from the Anguilla Public Relations Officer, Mr. Mark Romney. He told reporters: “Following the devastating 2017 hurricane season, Caribbean leaders and Clinton Global Initiative (GGI) Action Network members are pioneering scalable approaches to economic diversification, workforce development, clean and affordable energy, and small business.”
Mr. Romney’s press release continued: “Premier Banks’ attendance at the meeting provides an important opportunity for Anguilla’s interests to be represented as the GGI Action Network has brought together more than 775 organizations that have announced 86 Commitments to Action.
“These include new specific and measurable projects that fortify the future of the Caribbean. The meeting will focus on strengthening economies, increasing private sector, and philanthropic investments and improving resiliency in the Caribbean particularly as we go through another hurricane season.”
The release added: “The Clinton Foundation is committed to continuing to stand alongside our neighbors in the Caribbean as they continue to build back stronger communities and prepare for future natural disasters.”
