The Corporate Manager of the Anguilla Tourist Board, Mrs. Shellya Rogers-Webster, has made the point that while the island’s hotels and some ancillary services are closed for the slow period, her office is busily working.
“As you know, this is the off-season for a number of our hotels and restaurants. However, it is not an off-season for the Anguilla Tourist Board because we are very busy,” she told The Anguillian newspaper. “We actually use the off-season to do quite a bit of training. Starting from early next month, we are going to be doing training for our private sector and public sector partners. We will be conducting customer service training; training for retail agents; tour operators and taxi-drivers who are involved with our tourists. We will be running the training throughout the month of October. We are also planning a lot of marketing for the Anguilla Tennis Cup which will run from November 3rd to 9th. In addition, we will be working very hard to ensure that this event happens.
“Apart from all of this, we will be doing some internal training for the Anguilla Tourist Board’s staff with a combination of customer service training, Quick Books training as well as general writing. So we are going to put a lot of development work on ourselves while we have the off-season. We will actually be bringing in one of the facilitators from Antigua for the taxi-drivers and other partners.”
Mrs. Rogers-Webster said the Anguilla Tourist Board would also be engaged in online promotions.
