The Anguilla Community College (ACC), the Ministry of Education, and the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Council recently collaborated to host a press conference and information session to specifically highlight the UK accredited Pearson BTEC curriculum being offered on Anguilla. The BTEC Press Conference and Information Session were attended by a diverse mix of media persons, education and human resource personnel, parents, and prospective students. This September 2019 saw BTEC programmes being introduced at the secondary level at Albena Lake Hodge Comprehensive School (ALHCS), whereas a range of BTEC curricula is already on offer at the college for ACC 6th Form students as well as more mature individuals.

The Honourable Minister of Education, Mrs. Cora Richardson Hodge, encouraged everyone at the press conference to embrace the growing opportunities that BTEC educational options offered Anguilla at the high school and college levels. Mr. Feliciano James, the National TVET Coordinator, elaborated on the importance of the relationships between industry and education, citing the contribution of Bob and Melinda Blanchard to financing the equipment to be used in the programmes planned for ALHCS. Ms. Annishka White, Business Lecturer at ACC, provided a summary of BTEC’s structure and the different BTEC levels from secondary through postgraduate qualifications while Mrs. Tamara Pradel discussed the ACC 6th Form, which was formerly known as Technical Sixth Form.

President of the ACC, Dr. Karl Dawson, drew attention to the substantial ongoing contribution of the Government of Anguilla in providing Tuition-Free BTEC education for school leavers, which either prepare them for the workplace or for further tertiary education. School leavers completing high school in 2018 and 2019 are eligible to apply for ACC 6th Form to follow programmes in business, hospitality, and construction studies.

To find out more about ACC 6th Form and other programming, visit the ACC at their George Hill site or apply online at www.apply.acc.edu.ai, email at info@acc.edu.ai, call at (264) 498-8395, or WhatsApp on (264) 476-8395.
