On Tuesday 30th July, 2019 the Department of Youth and Culture in collaboration with the Management Advisory Board of the Anguilla Service Corps, hosted the Youth EXPOSURE Programme Closing/Certificate Ceremony for the 5th Cohort. The ceremony was held at the La Vue Boutique Hotel conference room and was well attended by the proud clients, the staff of the Department of Youth and Culture, Government Officials and Head of Departments at which the Clients were placed.
The Closing/Certificate Ceremony was competently chaired by Ms. Elissa Williams, one of the clients on this year’s Youth EXPOSURE Programme. The Programme Officer – Youth Development, Mrs. Jocelyne Mills welcomed the audience and provided a comprehensive overview of the programme and its benefits to the clients in regards to making them marketable for full-time employment. The Clients would have benefited from a series of professional training which was facilitated by the Anguilla Community College, and the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation Team.
Three of the clients shared some impressive and touching testimonies of their experience on the programme with all in attendance inclusive of their family and friends. In addition to the ‘Certificates of Completion’ given to each one of the thirteen (13) Youth EXPOSURE Clients, a ‘Certificate of Appreciation’ was also awarded to Mr. David Christmas, for his voluntary service to the Programme.
Background
The Youth EXPOSURE Programme targets young persons who are Belongers of Anguilla between the ages of 17 to 30, who have 4 or more CSEC subjects (College and University Degrees included) and have been actively seeking employment for one (1) or more years.
The clients of the programme are attached to various Government Departments including Primary Schools, for a period of six months and will receive training and development from the Anguilla Community College and a monthly stipend which will be paid by the Government of Anguilla (Department of Youth and Culture).
