A new Director of Nursing is to be appointed at the Health Authority of Anguilla following the unfortunate passing of Nurse Colvette Bonner Whyte originally of Jamaica.

Born on January 27, 1966, Nurse Whyte passed away on July 17, 2019. The senior health worker was described by her family as “a loving daughter, mother, sister & friend who will be missed dearly”. A memorial service was held for her on Sunday, August 4, at the Jireh Tabernacle of Seventh-day Adventists at South Hill.

The service was conducted by visiting Pastor Virgil Sam who came to Anguilla from St. Eustatius for that purpose. He was fully acquainted with her having served in Anguilla at the time of her membership of the SDA Church. He spoke about her spiritual life, commitment and early involvement in the New Life Company of the Church at East End which, as a new member, she helped to establish.

Nurse Whyte was the mother of four children – one girl, Christina Whyte, who delivered the Formal Remembrance – and three boys, all of whom were at the memorial service. Among other matters, she was portrayed as a dedicated and caring health worker in Anguilla. Some persons openly wept, unable to control their emotions.

A large group of workers from across the executive and departmental sections of the Health Authority rendered a tribute in song to their fallen co-worker.
A musical selection was sung with a great deal of passion by noted local singer, teacher and counsellor, Mrs. Anita Ruan, adding much to the comfort of the mourners and the solemnity of the occasion.

It was arranged for the funeral of the late Director of Nursing to be held in her Jamaican homeland.
