In completing my secondary education my desire was to pursue my studies even further and be ready for work. I wanted to study Architecture but realised I loved working with computers, so I pursued my studies in the Computing Field.

While in the process of applying I eventually saw the University of East London (UEL) through advertisements. I searched for their programmes relating to Information Technology and eventually saw Computing for Business.
First of all, I was really impressed by the modules offered. I knew this was a better programme for me than Computer Science as I wanted to grasp how technology can be used to improve the performance of business operations.

To bring it all together with my journey at (UEL) has been challenging yet very rewarding. I applied for accommodation and awaiting my time to move in. In arriving To Docklands, I really loved the area and appreciated how the University took time to prepare accommodation for 1st years and even returners.

Before my studies even began I encountered many challenges as I was expecting to have received some sort of financial support but it was not offered. I then needed to decide if I should stay or Leave. But then I reminded myself that I didn’t come all this way to give up and that I live by Faith and not by sight.

So I completed enrolment by faith, trusting in God to provide for me every step of the way. Now, look where God has taken me.
It has been a real challenge but I remained focus and determined to excel no matter my circumstances.

In 2017, my family and I experienced the most horrifying hurricane ever, Irma. Now this occurred two years into my degree, just a few weeks before my departure to London. It was devastating for many people in the Caribbean but by God’s Grace we survived.

It was a very difficult situation to have faced whilst in the middle of University studies. I was so determined to complete my studies that I waited 8 hours or more on the airport just to get a flight out of Anguilla.

In returning to London I was still feeling a little shaken due to the hurricane but I managed to remain calm and focused on my studies. It has really been a faith walk, as I kept Jesus at the forefront and He kept me, my family and friends who supported me throughout the four years of my studies. I completed my studies debt free, with 1st Class Honours and was presented with the Dean’s Award for Best Student of the Year for the BSc in Computing for Business. All the Glory to God. From my results it was proof that the hand of the Lord is upon me.
