Road Town, Tortola, BVI: During an official visit to the British Virgin Islands (BVI) last week, University of the West Indies (UWI) Open Campus BOT Manager, Dr. Phyllis Fleming-Banks paid a courtesy call on the new Minister for Education, Culture, Youth Affairs, Fisheries and Agriculture, Dr. The Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley. Minister Wheatley visited the newly renovated BVI Open Campus Site and met with local Staff Members, Ms Tanisha Todd, Ms Shanique La Touche Pierre and Mr. Everson Benjamin.
While in the BVI Dr. Fleming-Banks was also part of the official platform at the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College’s (HLSCC) 26th Graduation Exercise. As a special guest of the new HLSCC’s President, Mrs. Judith Vanterpool, she joined Education and other BVI Government Officials, including the Acting Governor and Keynote Speaker, H.E. Mr. David D. Archer, Jr, the Honourable Premier, Mr. Andrew A. Fahie and Education Minister, Dr. The Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley in the ceremony at the Multi Purpose Sports Complex.
The HLSCC and the UWI Open Campus BVI share the same campus grounds and the College continues to delivers its Teacher Education programmes in collaboration with the UWI. Some HLSCC students also choose to continue their education with the UWI/UWI Open Campus.
