Lucky customers at the two highly-upgraded Sol gas stations in Anguilla are having opportunities to win five hundred EC dollars in cash for the purchase of just EC$50 worth of fuel at both stations.

It is a six-week raffle, every Friday at 4.30 pm which started last week, conducted by Sol’s newly-appointed Country Manager, Mr. Dexter Ward, at Lake’s Gas Station in The Quarter.

“We are having a promotion that started on Monday (July 8). It is going to run for six weeks until August 16,” he told media representatives on Friday, July 12. “As long as customers come in and spend 50 dollars EC in gas, they will get a chance to fill out a ticket and then put it into the raffle box. We do a weekly drawing every Friday afternoon at 4.30 and customers have a chance to win 500 dollars. The more they spend the more chances they get.”

Mr. Dexter Ward and Mr. Atocia James

Asked about the aim of the raffle, Mr. Ward said that the Sol Station at The Quarter, and the Sol Station at West End, were both well-supported over the years by customers, but the stations were destroyed by Hurricane Irma in September 2017. Now that they have been repaired, upgraded and brought back to service, the Sol Company had undertaken to give back to the community in the form of the six-weekly raffle drawings and the payment of EC$500 to winners.
The first winner on Friday, July 12, was Atocio James of Stoney Ground. The $500 in cash was presented to him by Mr. Ward. Mr James declared that when he filled out the ticket he had a strong feeling that he would win. He said he was always a Sol customer and was elated to be a winner.

Meanwhile, Ms. Carol Hodge, Manager of Lake’s Do It Best, with responsibility for Lake’s Gas Station and other services, said it was a delight that both gas stations had been back in service. She noted that it was still a work in progress and that she was grateful to customers for their support and patience – especially during the days when the repairing and upgrading work was being undertaken.
Ms. Hodge added that both gas stations also have convenient shops to facilitate members of the public.
