Kemba Hughes Earns BSME from University of Waterloo

Kemba Hughes

We would like to congratulate Kemba Sakile Hughes who graduated on June 15st, 2019 with a Bachelors of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada. Kemba is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Lowell Hughes and is believed to be one of two female Anguillian Mechanical Engineers. She also holds an Associate Degree in Natural Sciences.

Kemba has shown a keen interest in Green Energy and the construction industry. During her internship terms for her Engineering degree, she worked initially with DLG Engineering in Anguilla, and then HTS Engineering in London, Ontario; and she spent the last three internships with the National Research Council in Ottawa, Ontario. While gaining this work experience, Kemba also obtained a Galileo Master Certificate in Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency and became certified as a Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVACR) Technician in 2016.

She has been an active mentor for Women in Engineering since 2017 and a volunteer with the Canadian Association for Girls in Science since 2015.
Kemba plans to pursue post-graduate studies in the field of Renewable Energy with the view to utilizing Green Energy and Energy conservation practices in building design and construction.
