The Anguilla Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACOCI) organised and hosted another apt and timely workshop for its members. The dynamic workshop entitled ‘From Vision to Value’ focused on equipping participants with the necessary tools to develop their business ideas, grow their businesses and increase profitability. The facilitator was Mr. Darren Wilson who hails from St. Maarten and is an author, public speaker and entrepreneur. The workshop was held on June 18th at the ACOCI Conference Room. Participants represented a range of local businesses and were actively engaged in discussions and activities throughout the workshop.
The key goal of the workshop was to help persons understand the value of having a strong vision for their business and helping them to develop that vision and turn it into value not only for themselves but for their clients. During the half day session participants learned how to craft a vision for their business, develop business concepts that are congruent with the economic climate, create value in their business and understand and apply the four pillars of business which are marketing, sales, operations and administration.
The workshop was very well received and achieved positive evaluations by the participants. One participant shared that, “The session was very informative and thought-provoking.” Another attendee expressed that she thoroughly enjoyed the session and was motivated to use her newfound tools to improve her organizational vision and increase the value of her business. Overall, participants indicated that the workshop was very insightful, and the skills and knowledge gained would be very useful within their respective businesses.
The facilitator, Mr. Wilson, voiced that the key is understanding that everyone has great ideas, in fact there is no shortage of great ideas, there is however, a shortage of execution. You may have a great idea for your business but if you don’t execute that idea, then it remains just that – an idea. It is important that persons understand that you cannot get upset when someone develops a business with your same idea because ideas are not loyal. Hence, the significance of execution and creating great value.
Mr. Wilson further shared his gratitude to the Anguilla Chamber of Commerce and the general public for the opportunity to share his knowledge and expertise. He went on to add that he understands the challenges to the economy following Hurricane Irma, however, as long as you have the drive and willpower to be able to move forward and craft a business concept that can be profitable even in this climate, then you are well on your way to business success.
The Anguilla Chamber of Commerce continues to offer valuable services such as these types of training for its members. The Chamber would like to thank all who participated in this workshop and invite all members to take advantage of all opportunities to invest in staff.
Looking forward, the Anguilla Chamber of Commerce will continue to offer support and valuable opportunities to its members. The Chamber of Commerce extends an invitation to all businesses and entrepreneurs to become members of ACOCI.
