Cognizant that community interventions cannot be sustained in the absence of partnerships and true stakeholder buy-in, and being mindful of financial and resource constraints to support ongoing programming, senior officers from the Ministry of Health and Social Development have commenced a series of ‘stakeholder connect’ meetings to discuss existing and potential group and community-based initiatives on which they could partner.

These current stakeholder meetings are aimed at identifying potential collaboration on programmes and activities focused on two key areas:
– The PAVE Strategy
– The Move Ya Body Campaign.

PAVE – Partners Advocating for Violence Eradication – is Anguilla’s National Anti-violence stakeholder body tasked with formulating, implementing and supporting initiatives geared at combating ongoing challenges with crime, violence, delinquency, and other criminal behaviours, while promoting peaceful co-existence in our schools and communities.

‘Move Ya Body’ is a national health campaign designed to address the impact of non-communicable diseases on Anguilla – while raising awareness of the unhealthy behaviour patterns of our people. The campaign identifies and creates avenues to engage people in adopting more active and healthier lifestyles.

The Ministry thanks the organizations that have already engaged in the ‘stakeholder connect’ meetings, and calls on other groups to connect as this strategy promotes holistic efforts to address national challenges.

Agencies and groups that are interested in partnering with these programme areas are encouraged to contact the Ministry of Health and Social Development on 497-3042/497-3930. For discussions focused on violence eradication and peacebuilding, persons are asked to contact the Community Services Planner and Chairperson of PAVE, Mrs. Hyacinth Bradley, on hyacinth.bradley@gov.ai – and for the ‘Move Ya Body’ Campaign, contact the Director of the Chronic Disease Unit, Mrs. Twyla Bradshaw-Richardson, at twyla.bradshaw-richardson@gov.ai or the Director-Sports Development, Mr. Andre Collins, at andre.collins@gov.ai
