PS Mrs. Petty Barrett

In its continuing efforts to build capacity among the leaders in the education sector, the Ministry of Education held another of its sessions on the Education Act.

The latest session was held on Friday, May 23, at the Anguilla Tourist Board’s Conference Room. In attendance were Principals and their Deputies and Education Officers. The session was facilitated by the Permanent Secretary responsible for Education, Mrs. Chanelle Petty Barrett.

Some of the key areas of discussion included the rights and responsibilities of students, teachers and parents – and disciplinary matters. A previous session focused on General Orders.

The Education Act has been in operation for several years now – with at least two revisions. The holding of the educational sessions has been deemed necessary as new persons take up positions in the Ministry and Department of Education.
