LABOUR DAY CELEBRATION IN ANGUILLA

The Ronald Webster Park in Anguilla was a mass of sporting events and colour for the Labour Day holiday on Wednesday, May 1.

Twelve teams, representing the public and private sectors, attired in their particular colours, participated in a friendly rivalry in various sporting activities dubbed “Fun Day”.
The teams were drawn from Customs, Police, the Legal fraternity, Government of Anguilla, Health Authority, Teachers’ Union, Fire and Rescue Service, Resort & Residences by CuisinArt, Four Seasons Resort and Residences Anguilla; Belmond Cap Juluca, IWAS Combined; and the Anguilla Social Security Office.

The teams competed for trophies in the categories of Fun Day Champions, Tug-o-War Champions; Largest Team and Cheerleading Champions.

The actual sporting activities included Egg and Spoon race; Needle & Thread race; Three-Legged race; Clothes Pin race; Bottle race; and Men’s Out race.

The aim of the annual Labour Day activities is to promote social and community partnerships among the various teams and to bring about an awareness of Labour Day and its meaning for workers.
