Belmond Cap Juluca is continuing the tradition of recognising and awarding employees for their outstanding work. The latest ceremony, in that regard, was held at the Resort’s newly-built Events Pavilion. It provides a commanding view of the substantially refurbished and new villas bordering the expansive seascape on the north.
General Manager, Mr. Tiago Moraes Sarmento, presided over the awards presentation ceremonies which were held at three different times on Wednesday, April 24. He prefaced the ceremonies by giving an update on the functioning of the Resort and its present and future operations.
He told the employees that the Belmond Hotel Group, the company that purchased Cap Juluca more than two years ago, and spent millions of dollars on a refurbishing and rebuilding programme, now owned 47 properties in various areas of the world.
“It was 46 until a month ago,” he reported. “We now have 47 properties around the world from the Safaris in Africa through properties in Europe, Italy (where there are 7 or 8 properties), Mexico, Brazil, South America, and some of the most beautiful properties in Peru also.”
Mr. Sarmento took the opportunity to inform the employees that the Belmond Hotel Group (including Cap Juluca in Anguilla) had now become part of “the LVMH Group – the largest luxury company in the world – very known for retail and beverage brands” along with hundreds of other industries; and also owned three hotels and other businesses.
He went on: “The good news is that this brand has bought Belmond, so we are now part of this bigger group called LVMH (Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessey). It doesn’t change anything to us, but I think it is only good news that we are part of the biggest luxury company in the world.”
Mr. Sarmento spoke about the big increase in the number of persons around the world who are following Belmond Cap Juluca on its Facebook page and its videos, taking into account that the systems only started less than two years ago. “We also have some other people sharing information about us and this, of course, is spreading the word about Belmond Cap Juluca,” he stated.
He also spoke about the Belmond hashtag which is significantly publicising the property. In addition, he was pleased to report that journalists around the world were writing about the Resort in various magazines and other sections of the travel trade press – even in Japan, on the other side of the world. “We are all over the world,” he added, attracting the applause of the employees.
Mr. Sarmento’s remarks were followed by his presentation of the Employee Recognition Awards for January to March, 2019.
