The wheels of ‘transformation from within’ continue to spin at the Social Security Board this week, with two full days of kick-off meetings, held 8th and 9th May 2019, with members of the Board’s Management Team and consultants of the E-Services Provider, Bearing Point Caribbean.
On 2nd April 2019, the Board entered into contractual arrangements with Bearing Point Caribbean with the signing of a services and software license agreement, following several years of intense research and analysis and months of procurement process, for the provision of a Social Information Administration System (SIAS). The introduction of a new multi-benefit e-services software platform is one of the major initiatives of the Board’s Strategic Plan for the triennium 2019 – 2021.
These two days of kick-off meetings set the stage for the ground work that will be undertaken in the months ahead, in modelling and re-engineering the Board’s internal processes leading up to the implementation and configuration of the new system.
Major areas of discussion covered during the two days of meetings were:
Introduction and objectives of the project; introduction of the plan of approach and high level analysis within 6 weeks; demo of the multi-benefit system; discussions to further the scope of the project, high level planning, project team composition, management of the project, and topics to be shared or discussed with Inland Revenue Department; meeting frequency; project reports; technical infrastructure; conversion strategy and data migration; demo current system and tour SSB premises; high level analysis with department heads and key users per theme/process; and functionalities to be supported by the new system.
The new SIAS will not only offer much needed efficiencies for the Board’s Staff and selective process automation, but also introduces several secure online services for our customers and Government partners, and enables the Board to deliver upon its vision, of among other things, providing transformational Social Security through a customer-centric and technology-driven system.
The Board will be working diligently with the consultants of Bearing Point Caribbean to offer the new SIAS in phases beginning first quarter of 2020. The public will be kept informed of the developments of the project as it moves through the different phases, and as the process unfolds.
