On 30 April, the Honourable Deputy Governor Perin Bradley met to congratulate the team of officers from the Anguilla Fire and Rescue Service (AFRS) who were involved in a successful rescue operation last Friday. The incident illustrates the lead role the AFRS have in search and rescue in Anguilla.
On the morning of 26th April 2019, the AFRS received a report that following the collapse of a coastal rock, someone fell down a cliff in the Limestone Bay, Black Garden area. A team from the AFRS trained in Urban Search and Rescue were dispatched to the location and were met by two medical personnel at the scene.
The rescue team repelled down the cliff and prepared the injured man for placement on two stretchers. He was then hoisted above the cliff to a place of safety and taken to hospital for medical attention.
