On May 19th the first ever Nurses Hall of Fame ceremony was held at the Cuisinart Hotel and Residences. Eight nurses were awarded and inducted I being among them.
This was a great initiative. It certainly would have been remiss of me if I didnt place on record my sincere appreciation to all the stakeholders who made this possible.
I must first give thanks to God for the manifold blessings bestowed upon me, inspite of the many challenges faced, allowing me to see this day. His name be praised.
Secondly I am deeply humbled and honoured to be one of therecipients of this first ever prestigious award. I must sincerely thank the members of the general public who have been observing me over the many years of my tenure in nursing, and the contribution that they observed that I had made to the Anguillian community on a whole – to have nominated me for this award.
This was unexpected for truly the type of individual that I am – one who is genuinely caring, empathetic, helpful, a team player, hard worker, among the many other positive characteristics that I possess – certainly one who does things from the heart going over and beyond the call of duty, placing people above self expecting nothing in return.
This was reflected through the many testimonials I personally received from my clients members of the general public, and my colleagues on a whole.
Hence this award is received with sincere appreciation and gratitude for your kind gesture. To you, I am eternally grateful. Indeed you have given me my flowers while I am alive. This speaks volumes to your impression of me to be deserving of such an award. Again I say thank you and may God’s continual blessings be with you and your families.
I must say here give Kudos to my colleagues, the other recipients of this prestigious award as well, who have done a commendable job in giving yeomans and quality service to the Anguillian community in the advancement of nursing and well deserving of this award.
To the organizers of this event, thank you for the initiative and for a job well done. You surely deserve a sip of champagne. The success of this event is surely the result of the teamwork that was meted out from your committee. Teamwork indeed divides the effort and multiplies the desired effect .
To my family and friends, I thank you for your support. To all whom I have worked with, along this journey of my tenure in Anguilla – my nursing colleagues the host of the train quiz Bro Lee and the many others too numerous to mention, to you I say a big thank you as well. Nursing is my profession and caring has been my ultimate – mission garnering much respect in the community.
Martin Luther King once said and I quote.
“Occassionaly in life there are those moments of unutterable fulfilment which cannot be completely explained by those symbols called words. Their meanings can only be articulated by the inaudible language of the heart”. Hence from my heart I say, If I have helped somebody along life’s way then my living shall not be in vain.
Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!
