Following the destruction of the roof of the Bethel Chapel by Hurricane Irma in September 2017, the Bethel congregation has been raising funds to restore the roof in keeping with the architectural heritage of this historic building. The restoration work is in progress, thanks to the generous contributions of members, friends and the community at large. We are grateful for the contributions received thus far.
On Sunday March 31st, Mr. Carlson Connor-Lloyd, President of the Anguilla Progressive Association of New York (APANY), presented a check in the amount of $10,000.00 (US) to the Superintendent Minister, Rev. Dr. Wycherley Gumbs, during the morning service at Bethel Methodist Church, as a donation from the Board and members of APANY.
Mr. Elvett Hughes, a member of the Restoration Committee, stated, “We are grateful for the timely contribution of US$10,000.00 from APANY”.
Mr. Hughes continued, “In addition to this contribution APANY is assisting through facilitating the transfer of contributions made by United States citizens”.
