Anguilla Multifaceted Professional Security Services (AMPSS) continues to invest in capacity building and continuous learning for its management and staff. NFPA, or National Fire Protection Association, is the leading information and knowledge resource on fire, electrical and related hazards. The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) offers a comprehensive collection of codes and standards intended to minimise the possibility and effects of fire and other risks. These guidelines are accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). NFPA codes and standards aid in designing fire-safe buildings and products, improving structure safety performance and maintaining building safeguards.

Following intensive training, which included a written and practical examination, AMPSS is pleased to be certified in NFPA 17A – the standard for wet chemical extinguishing systems, and NFPA 96 – the standard for ventilation control and fire protection of commercial cooking operations. This training is an extension of previous training on portable fire extinguishers.

Mr. Hughes noted that: ‘As a company we recognised a need for this service in the industry, which is why we embarked on this training programme. It is our goal to provide these necessary services to the Anguillian public and the region at a reasonable cost.’ While he is the first in his office to be trained in the NFPA 17A and NFPA 96 standards, there are plans in place for additional staff members to receive the said training in the near future. Mr. Hughes further highlighted that staff training will be continuous as it is important to stay abreast of new developments and changes in the industry, particularly related to servicing and maintenance of such equipment.

Pre-engineered fire suppression systems are extremely useful to businesses, especially restaurants. These fire suppression systems provide protection for your cooking appliances and associated ventilation equipment that could be major fire risks. The intended purpose of these pre-engineered suppression systems is to quickly extinguish fires and prevent fires from re-igniting.

Restaurant owners can rest easier knowing that if a fire does occur when no one is around to manually extinguish it, these pre-engineered systems will detect and activate automatically to extinguish/delay the spread of the fire. However, just installing these systems is not enough. Regular maintenance is also necessary. Systems must be inspected monthly and must undergo maintenance every six months in accordance with NFPA standards and the manufacturer’s manual to ensure proper operation and full value. These pre-engineered fire suppression systems are highly necessary and beneficial not only for preventing the loss of life and property, but also for providing business owners with a peace of mind.

Anguilla Multifaceted Professional Security Services (AMPSS) is a security firm offering a comprehensive line of security and investigation services, including sales, consultancy, servicing and maintenance of fire extinguishers and fire suppression systems, private investigations, pre-employment background checks, VIP protection and fire prevention training to customers in its targeted market.
