In honour of International Women’s Day on 8th March, Governor Tim Foy and his wife, Dr. Dina Foy, met with the 2019 Women’s Week honourees. The 14 women engaged Governor Foy in candid discussions about their life experiences and how they stay motivated and encouraged on a daily basis. The community visit, held at the Soroptimist Centre, was facilitated by Gender Development Coordinator, Dr. Ronya Foy Connor. She welcomed the Governor and his wife and thanked them for initiating this forum with a group of dynamic women.
The honourees spoke of their experiences with health challenges, coping with the loss of a loved one, raising children with challenges, dedicating their lives in service to protecting youth and caring for seniors, and ultimately living positively and optimistically. The 2019 honourees in attendance included Latoya Hobbs-Nurse, Marjorie O. Connor, Sadie Rogers, Jackie Harrigan, Charissa-Ann Busby, Marilyn B. Hodge, Margaret Augustus, Sandra Hodge, Maria Webster, Vondel Adams and Tracelyn Hamilton – all representing as a woman of Faith, Hope or Love.
