A Janney Group of some 150 persons made the contribution, of US $10,000, to the Albena Lake Comprehensive School during a dinner meeting in the ballroom of Resort & Residences by CuisinArt on Thursday evening, February 7, 2019.

At the meeting were the Minister of Education, Mrs. Cora Richardson-Hodge; Principal of the Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School, Mrs. Rita Celestine Carty; Director of the Music Department, Mrs. Kimba Southwell (all of whom received the symbolic cheque), and members of the School’s Choir.

The introductory remarks were delivered by Mr. Tim Scheve, President and CEO of the company, who welcomed the

Anguillian party, and Mr. Jerry Lombard, President, who presented the cheque.

The formal statement made at the presentation ceremony by the Janney Group was: “One of our company’s values is to ‘keep people at the center’ and we carry that…wherever we go. We’re proud to assist the beautiful island of Anguilla as their communities recover from the devastation caused by Hurricane Irma. It’s an honor to support the Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School as they continue their vital mission to enrich the lives of children.”

The reply was made by the Principal, Mrs. Carty, who thanked the Janney Group for their thoughtfulness and generosity. She said the money would be used for a well-needed and good purpose, and that she was delighted that her school was selected for the monetary assistance. She wished the Group an enjoyable stay in Anguilla.

Just before the presentation, a video was shown to the Group detailing the extensive damage that the hurricane wrought on Anguilla and the Comprehensive School. The video had the signage of Anguilla Strong, the rallying theme of resilience adopted on the island following the destructive hurricane.
