Following the intake of its newest group of online students for Semester Two 2018/2019, the University of the West Indies Open Campus Anguilla is launching its face-to-face workforce development programmes aimed at local professionals. The courses, which are part of the University’s Continuing and Professional Education (CPE) programme, are designed for persons pursuing tertiary education qualifications, as well as for university certified individuals who are seeking to enhance their knowledge in a particular area, or fulfil workforce development needs.
New this semester is the Certificate in Creative Writing facilitated by Mrs. Vanessa Croft-Thompson and the Certificate in Protocol, Social and Business Etiquette with Mrs. Rosena Brooks. Creative Writing begins on 4th February and targets new and experienced writers, including news and magazine contributors who are seeking to improve the quality of their writing or publish their work and is being introduced ahead of the Malliouhana Poetry Competition and Lit Fest 2019. The Certificate in Protocol, Social and Business Etiquette which is due to start on 26th February, focuses on the basic aspects of business and social etiquette, as well protocol principles that are applicable in local, regional and international settings.
Other courses include favourites like Supervisory Management, Employment Law/Law for HR Practitioners, Introduction to Counselling and Conversational Spanish, Foundation Maths, Digital Marketing/Brand Management, Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management, Early Childhood Education Care and Development, Occupational Health & Safety and Compliance Management.
Some ninety persons completed the local programmes during the academic year 2017/2018, with another fifty joining the Semester One 2018/2019 courses offered during September and December.
