HE the Governor Tim Foy has announced that Ms Tina Bryan has been appointed Director of the Financial Services Commission taking over from Gerry Halischuk.
Tina has been with the Commission since 2010 having previously served as its Deputy Director, Enforcement and Anti-Money Laundering / Counter Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) Compliance and Head of AML/CFT Compliance and Legal. She holds a Bachelor of Law from the University of Wolverhampton in England and a Postgraduate Diploma in Professional Legal Services from City University in England as well as a Certificate of Legal Education from the Sir Hugh Wooding Law School in Trinidad.
Prior to joining the Commission, Tina was an Associate Attorney at a leading law firm in the British Virgin Islands. She was called to the Bar in England and Wales (non-practicing), Anguilla, British Virgin Islands and Trinidad.
On her appointment, Tina said: “The Commission has been actively working with the financial services industry, the Government and the Governor’s Office to meet the goals of sound regulation and compliance with the requirements imposed by international standard setting bodies. I look forward to continuing this work along with my colleagues to address the various challenges that Anguilla is facing and collaborate on initiatives to advance the jurisdiction as an international financial services centre.
The Governor commented: “the FSC plays a crucial role in regulating Anguilla’s financial services industry. I am genuinely delighted to formally announce Tina’s appointment and I am confident that under her leadership the FSC is in safe and capable hands. I look forward to the continued close partnership between the FSC and my Office”.
