On Wednesday 6th February 2019, Year Four males of the Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School (ALHCS) were treated to an afternoon of personal development sessions and interactive demonstrations. The annual event, titled the “A-Men Seminar”, was significantly impacted following Hurricane Irma which forced several changes to its design. Seminar organizers, members of ALHCS Guidance and Counselling Department, welcomed and embraced the new changes. This is evidenced by the success of this year’s re-vamped event.
This year, the school’s new schedule allowed for the use of the facilities at Campus A to host the two-part event. The Seminar’s primary feature were personal development sessions: “What it Means to be A-Man” and “Sex, Pornography & Me,” facilitated by Pastor Trent Berg; Mr. Chavez Edwards; RAPF Officer Sean Lake; Pastor Rodwell Grant and Mr. Reginald Enyi.
The second half of the Seminar comprised an interactive session where the young men visited various booths and interacted with King of Spin Dj Deany, as well as representatives of the Anguilla Fire & Rescue Service, the Anguilla Drag Racing Association and the Anguilla Barber Association. Students were given the opportunity to gain knowledge and insight in areas of interest as well as to participate in demonstrations for hands-on learning.
The Principal, Mrs. Rita Carty, staff and students of ALHCS, would like to thank all facilitators, aforementioned, as well as the following businesses and/or organizations: Anguilla Fire & Rescue Service; King of Spin, DJ Deany; Reynaldo Barber Shop, South Hill; Wilmer Barber Shop in Tackling; and the Anguilla Drag Racing Association. ALHCS also wishes to express a heart-felt thank you to FLOW Anguilla for the provision of tents and booths; members of the Church of God of Prophecy for the provision of refreshments; and to the Church of God Holiness for the use of the facility to host Year 5 development sessions on February 8th.
A special note of thanks is also extended to Mr. Linden Swaving and Mr. Enyi for conducting developmental sessions for Year Five boys on February 8th 2019. Mr. Reginald Enyi journeyed to Anguilla to inspire the hearts and minds of young men. He is a Business Consultant and Director of All Torque Business Services in the United Kingdom.
