Residents at Blowing Point are showing much interest in the new port arrangements there as plans continue to replace the temporary passenger terminal with a permanent structure later on.
One resident, Mr. Curtly Richardson, in a show of much patriotism, purchased a set of additional bins used by the port’s security personnel to collect and check items of passengers travelling to French St. Martin and Dutch St. Maarten. On Saturday, January 5, he presented them to the Elected Representative for District 6, Mr. Curtis Richardson, Minister of Infrastructure and Communications.
“I am Curtly Richardson of R.B. Development. We just donated six bins to security because going through the port, the day before, I realised that there were only four bins available,” he told The Anguillian newspaper. “There were many, many people travelling so when I got to St. Martin I took it upon myself and my company to purchase six bins and to donate them to security at Blowing Point Port. R.B. Development is the Richardson brothers’ Development Company. We also have a solid waste collection business, to be more specific.
“I did this as a patriotic citizen because Anguilla is all about us and we have to do something to help the community. We cannot always depend on the Government to do everything.”
Minister Curtis Richardson replied: “I am very appreciative of what was given by Mr. Curtly Richardson. He is one of the young men in the Blowing Point community who has been working extremely hard to develop himself. I am very proud that he saw the need and was able to go to St. Martin and purchased the five security bins. They should go a long way in assisting with the security checks here at Blowing Point Port.”
