With the cruise ship season now on, Anguilla is being visited by several small to medium-size cruise ships as part of their travel through the Caribbean region.
One of the most recent cruise ships to visit Anguilla and anchored outside Road Bay, was Seabourn Odyssey which is registered in The Bahamas and reportedly carries a maximum of 450 passengers.
Odyssey’s first visit to Anguilla for the 2018/2019 cruise season was December 24. Its most recent trip was Monday, January 7 when a number of its passengers were taken on guided tours of the island, including Wallblake House, a developing historical home, and Heritage Collection Museum at East End. The ship will again visit Anguilla on January 21, February 4 and 18, March 18 and on April 1.
The ship visits Anguilla every other Monday on its way to several regional destinations.
The cruise ship voyages usually begin in the Caribbean late in the year and continue through the region up to April of the ensuing year before leaving for the Mediterranean to escape the hurricane season.
Anguilla is yet to have an official cruise tourism policy like many of the other Caribbean islands.
