Garbage Collection

Dear Editor,

I am aware that the Anguilla Government amended its trash collection schedule in a cost savings effort. Although I applaud the Government for exploring methods to control spending, I do not believe the abbreviated schedule is working as intended. Trash containers are overflowing days prior to pick up and the island is still over a month away from the high season.

The trash situation is not only unsightly but unhealthy. Rats, flies, animals and fowls are raiding the containers. This is a serious health concern that needs the immediate attention of the Government officials responsible for the health and welfare of the island.

Below photo is from Seafeathers two days prior to pick up of garbage.
