The 3rd National Culture and Arts Awards and Reception – the ROCK Awards – will be held on 19 December 2018, Heroes and Heroines Day. This year’s ceremony, which is scheduled to begin at 6:30pm, will be held at the Rizzuto Ballroom of the newly renovated Resorts and Residences by Cuisinart.
The Department of Youth and Culture which coordinates the event, is pleased to announce the 2018 ROCK Awards Recipients. They are as follows:
Mrs. Daphne Jacobs-Richardson – Lifetime Achievement in Artistic and Cultural Expression
Mr. David C. Hodge (posthumously) – Culture and Development
Mr. Colin Johnson (All-Ah-Wee) – Dance
Dr. Oluwakemi M. Linda Banks – Literature
Mr. George Reid – Culinary Arts and
The Mussington Brothers – Musical Arts
The National Culture and Arts Awards recognises and honours persons and organisations which have dedicated their time and/or careers to the development, promotion and preservation of culture and the arts in Anguilla. Persons or groups are honoured in the areas of Dance, Music, Visual Arts, Theatre, Literature, Culinary Arts, Culture and Development, Culture Preservation and Culture Promotion. For the first time, this year, an award is also being given in the category of ‘Lifetime Achievement in Artistic and Cultural Expression.’
The Department of Youth and Culture takes this opportunity to thank all those who submitted nomination forms and wishes to congratulate and thank all the nominees for their contribution to Anguilla’s cultural and artistic development.
