ANGLEC SPONSORS 12th ANNUAL PRIMARY SCHOOL NATIONAL AWARDS CEREMONY

The Department of Education, on Thursday November 22nd, 2018 held its 12th Annual Primary School National Awards Ceremony under the theme “Excelling Against The Odds!” The ceremony was sponsored by The Anguilla Electricity Company, ANGLEC. ANGLEC has been sponsoring this event since its commencement in 2007.

Seventy-three (73) students were awarded at this year’s ceremony, an increase of thirteen (13) students over the previous year. ANGLEC’s commitment to sponsoring this event demonstrates that as well as being a good corporate citizen, they are also a friend to education and youth in Anguilla.
Students were awarded for outstanding performances in Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies Tests of Standards, Caribbean Primary Exit Assessment (CPEA), Music and Sports.
The presentation of the Patricia J. Adams Literary Award, now in its ninth year, was made to one student each from Grades 3, 5 and 6 who excelled in composition writing.

The recipients were:
Grade 3 -Auria Brooks-Laud – Orealia Kelly Primary School
Grade 5 – Cajeah Bryan – Omololu International School
Grade 6 – Karen He – Valley Primary School
Additionally, the ANGLEC ACHIEVEMENT AWARD, was awarded to the top three students overall from Grades 3, 5 and 6. The recipients were:
Grade 3 – Delecia Harrigan- Valley Primary School
Grade 5- Cajeah Bryan- Omololu International School
Grade 6- Mya Lake- Omololu International School

The top five performing students in this year’s Test of Standards examinations were:
1st place Grade 6 – Mya Lake -Omololu International School
2nd place Grade 6 – Michael Caragliano -Orealia Kelly Primary School
3rd Place Grade 6 – Rayvia Hodge -Orealia Kelly Primary School
4th Place Grade 6 – Samantha Minott- Omololu International School
5th Place Grade 6 – Gabriella Davies- Valley Primary School
1st Place Grade 5 – Cajeah Bryan- Omololu International School
2nd Place Grade 5 – Khorey Barrett- Morris Vanterpool Primary School
3rd Place Grade 5 – Ethan Harrigan – Omololu International School
4th Place Grade 5 – Jad Hunte – Orealia Kelly Primary School
5th Place Grade 5 – Draidahn Lico- Morris Vanterpool Primary School
1st place Grade 3 – Delecia Harrigan – Valley Primary School
2nd place Grade 3 – Jamyoi Hodge -Guishard’s Academy
3rd Place Grade 3 – Cayson Caragliano – Orealia Kelly Primary School
4th Place Grade 3 – Jevonte Reese – Valley Primary School
5th Place Grade 3 – Jahselah Bruno- Valley Primary School

The Caribbean Primary Exit Assessment (CPEA), which is administered at the Grade 6 level, assesses the key literacies required by all pupils exiting the primary school systems. The students awarded were:
1st place CPEA – Rayana Webster – Valley Primary School and Michael Caragliano – Orealia Kelly Primary School
3rd place CPEA – Yanis Reid -Orealia Kelly Primary School and Mya Lake – Omololu International School 5th place CPEA- Rayvia Hodge -Orealia Kelly Primary School

The Department of Education wishes to thank ANGLEC for encouraging our students by celebrating their achievements in education through their continuous sponsorship of this ceremony.
