The finals were held on Sunday 28th October at the BelAir Community Centre in St. Maarten.

Five finalists were selected from 10 slots in the semi-finals which were held on Sunday 21st October 2018.

Mrs. Carolyn Richardson – Hodge, President of the Rotary Club of Anguilla, along with Rotarians Karl Woodley, Youth Service Director, and Jeritza Samuel, Service Projects Director, led a delegation of Rotarians, Teachers, Coaches and Parents to the challenging, but successful Spelling Bee finals. Mrs. Richardson-Hodge stated that, “We are extremely proud of these students, and ask the Anguillian Community to join us in congratulating Ayana Carty and Zakkai Lake, for representing Anguilla and the Rotary Club of Anguilla well”. She further stated: “The theme for Rotary International 2018 is ‘Be the Inspiration’, and Rotary District 7020’s theme is ‘Empower Young Generation’, therefore the success of this competition has certainly fulfilled both themes”.

Ayana Carty spelt all 20 words correctly while Zakkai Lake spelt 19 words correctly.

The Rotary Club of Anguilla wishes to thank Scotiabank Anguilla and the Department of Education for their support in making this event possible for the youth to attend this prestigious competition.
The Rotary Club of Anguilla, a division of Rotary International, is a service organization whose stated purpose is to bring together business and professional leaders in order to provide humanitarian services, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and to advance goodwill and peace amply captured in its motto: “Service above Self”.
