Already an institution of much social development influence and benefit on the island, the Anguilla Social Security Board has been given a further charge to work tirelessly for the people of the island.
That challenge was thrown out to the Board of Directors, Management and Staff by Apostle Lucien MacDonna, a member of the Board and Pastor of the Life Impact Centre at Lower South Hill. He was at the time concluding his sermon at the Social Security Anniversary Service on Sunday, October 29, entitled: “Your Season Is Not Over”.
He called the Social Security Board’s attention to its important service to the island, and the need to fulfill the mission for which it was established by Revolutionary Leader and Father of the Nation, the late Mr. James Ronald Webster.
Chief Minister and Minister responsible for Social Security, Mr. Victor Banks, said the Social Security system had been in existence for the past 38 years in Anguilla. “It is a very important fund for the security of workers who contribute to the system – and their families -especially when they cannot work whether as a result of disability or as a result of age,” he said.
Earlier in the church service, addresses were also delivered by the Chairman of the Social Security Board, Mr. Sean Richard, and the Director of Social Security, Mr. Timothy Hodge.
Their addresses which were also delivered on radio in observance of Social Security Week, are published elsewhere in this edition of The Anguillian newspaper.
