On Monday, 29th October, 2018, in the presence of officials, teachers, peers and parents, the 3rd installment of the Adrian T. Hazell Primary School Student Council was conducted.
Student Council provides an opportunity for students to engage in a structured partnership with teachers, parents and the principal in the operation of their school. Being part of the Student Council can create a sense of ownership of the school and its activities among the student population.

The establishment of a Student Council gives students an opportunity to acquire the sort of communication, planning and organizational skills which will be of benefit to them in their future lives. It enables students to take responsibility for projects and to demonstrate that they can manage and bring such projects to successful conclusions.
The installation ceremony, chaired by the school’s Link Officer Mrs. Shana Delaney, saw the induction of 10 new executive officers to the Council.

This capable executive bunch includes:
President: Xzavierra Cummings
Vice President: Jayda Romney
Secretary 1: Myah-Michelle Romney
Secretary 2: J-Mar Carty
Treasurer 1: Dimitri Blake
Treasurer 2: Jayden Hughes
Public Relations Officer 1: Makayla Hughes
Public Relations Officer 2: Nakia Carty-Romney
Language Support Officer 1: Ismarlin Diaz
Language Support Officer 2: Yamerlin Parades
In addition to the new executive, 7 students were chosen to be the voice of their grades. These students are:
Kindergarten: Arianna Roydon
Grade 1: Shakaida Rogers
Grade 2: Somaiya Banks
Grade 3: Saraji Vanterpool
Grade 4: Zelia Harrigan
Grade 5: Fedelisha Thomas
Grade 6: Jahmar Buddle
All students were inducted by Treasurer of the National Youth Council, Miss Soya Williams, with assistance from Student Council Advisors Tr Chanicia Buchanan and Tr Kemesha Isles. Following this act, Rev Dr Wycherley Gumbs said a special prayer for the members of the executive, giving them the courage to lead and to be an example to all they may come into contact with.
The newly elected president, 10-year-old Xzavierra Cummings, small in stature but powerful in voice, pledged to be a shining example for students as she hopes to consult with teachers and the Education Department to make school a place where students will be happy to come to daily.
The first Student Council of the Adrian T. Hazell Primary School was inducted in 2015 and led by President Mickhi Carty.
The principal and staff express sincere gratitude to all persons who may have contributed to this prestigious event in the life of our school, and wish to once again congratulate the new Student Council body on their attainment.
