The Anguilla Community College (ACC) continues its commitment to equipping adults in Anguilla with the skills they need to pursue and realize their dreams.
Leon Morancie, a graduate of the ACC, expressed heartfelt satisfaction on his exemplary achievement, of the Associate Degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management, specialising in Food and Beverage Management. Though he embarked on his degree in 2014, Morancie had begun investing in his personal and professional development years before, having taken several semester long courses at the ACC before committing to the long term discipline of a degree.
Once qualified, and having gained experience through internship, Leon earned a full-time job at Uncle Ernie’s beach bar where he was employed up until Hurricane Irma in 2017, when the restaurant became inoperable.
After attaining his degree, and gaining further work experience, Leon has become even more enthusiastic about the skills he acquired while at the Anguilla Community College. He takes pride in showcasing his talent and feeding the sweet tooth of locals and visitors to Anguilla. Leon is currently involved in the post Hurricane Irma reconstruction efforts but inspired by his academic and career success, he is also taking the time to plan the establishment of his very own pastry business!
The College helped Leon Morancie to develop a solid foundation in the hospitality and tourism industry on Anguilla. He articulated his appreciation to the staff and faculty members, who were very attentive to his needs and those of his classmates; some of the first students ever enrolled at the college. “The comradeship was excellent; students and staff were like a family”, Leon reminisced, “as students, we received one on one time and also practical experience that has been transferable as we walk our individual career paths”.
Mr. Morancie emphasized his desire to see the college continue to grow and prosper as a community space for the personal and professional development of adults in Anguilla.
