Shanelle Hodge-Charles –
Driven, Determined
Driven and Determined. Two qualities that best describe the Anguilla Community College alumna, Shanelle Hodge-Charles.
Mrs. Hodge-Charles studied and completed her Associate Degree in Teacher Education Primary from the joint board of teacher education in 2016, after which she became a certified teacher at primary level. Currently, she is employed at the Morris Vanterpool Primary School where she is trusted enough to mold the minds of the Grade Three (3) students.
Learning and teaching others to learn are Shanelle’s passions. This is evidenced in her commitment to growing her career and skillsets over the years. A natural leader, she took on the challenge of becoming the Vice President of the ACC Student Council and did not fail to uphold that position during and after her years at the college.
After completing her Associate Degree in Education, Shanelle began her pursuit of her bachelor’s degree. She attributes a large part of her success to her journey through the ACC, an experience she considers to be the stepping stone to her personal and professional growth.
Of her time at the Anguilla Community College, Shanelle remarks fondly on the experience of interacting directly with tutors and receiving immediate feedback. Amongst the first students to attend the ACC, Shanelle built bonds in and beyond the classroom. “The ACC was like that of a community, a family. [Persons] were always willing to assist and steer you in the right direction. Failure is not an option at the ACC.”
Mrs. Hodge-Charles is excited about the future of the Anguilla Community College. She looks forward to seeing it expand into its own facility, and what that will mean for current and future students.
Shanelle Hodge-Charles endorses and recommends the ACC – “Building People, Community, Nation”.
