We felt the excitement on the island as the time drew near for Extreme Bake Off 2018. The talks were heard as you entered the grocery stores, banks, our local post office lobby and private sectors. Indeed I was thrilled beyond measure. It reminded me of how excitement fills the air just before Christmas time. So why was the event postponed? Everyone wants to know and should.
Producing an Extreme Bake Off event is strongly based on the registration of teams or individual participants who are in this case cake bakers and decorators. These are the persons who will bring the event to its peak. As you know this year we really worked hard at getting the information out to the islands. We have had interest from Trinidad, Grenada, Nevis and St Martin. However we experienced cancellations from Team Trinidad and Team Grenada, and their basic reason was financially based. In one group’s case, vacation was applied for and approved. However they were unable to meet their quota for travel, though they raised funds on their end. The excitement is here – that is sure but registration was too low to present a meaningful show.
We are hoping for more sound sponsorship as we endeavor to announce the future date for the event. So we are asking you to partner with us to help make this a reality. Contributions are being collected to assist with taking care of the air fares for Team Grenada and Team Trinidad. These teams are excited to visit Anguilla and we want to be their host. Please feel free to contact us at 1 264 235 8893 if you wish to contribute to this cause. Also the tickets with benefits are still being sold with the new drawing date of December 24th, 2018.
These tickets cover your entrance to the event, a 7-day stay in Orlando Florida and hotel, flights and transfer to and from the airport for 2 persons. Express your interest for tickets at Exotic Hair & Beauty Supplies. Feel free to follow us on Facebook – JC Vips – view passed events and natural talent from our cake bakers and decorators.
On Friday October 12th a cake bakers’ & decorators’ reception was held at Patsy’s Seaside Vilas, where I (Lisa Hodge – Host) shared the history and the vision for the event. Apologies were sent from The Governor His Excellency Tim Foy. In our midst we had a guest in the person of Ms Jaghaira Lioe-A-Tjam (cake baker and decorator) out of St Martin who travelled just to learn more about the Extreme Bake Off Competition. She expressed that it is a good event to observe and that she will spread the word to other bakers on St Martin. Joyah Gumbs one of our local bakers, shared her vast experience with us. She has taken part in events of a similar nature in Puerto Rico and Jamaica. Tiffany Moore a representative from The Anguillian newspaper was also in attendance. Other comments were shared in that intimate setting.
