The Anguilla Nurses Association is the recipient of sponsorship from the Social Security Board in the amount of US$4,000.00. The funds are to assist the association with attendance of at least two nurses at the 31st Biennial Conference in Barbados during the period 20th – 28th October 2018.
Every two years, the Caribbean Nurses Organization (CNO) holds a weeklong educational conference in one of the organization’s member countries, which customarily has an attendance of 400+ nursing professionals. As a member country of the CNO, it is imperative to ensure that the Anguilla Nurses Association (ANA) has representation at the conference. The purpose of the conference includes working towards the promotion of improving standards of nursing care, along with uniting nurses within the Caribbean.
At the last biennial conference held in 2016 in Antigua, five (5) nurses represented the ANA and Anguilla. One of the ANA’s executive members, Mrs. Alicia Haywood, was elected into office as CNO Director for Region II for the period 2016-2018, with the responsibility of stewarding nine (9) CNO member countries. The Board congratulates Mrs. Haywood on her election to that post and trusts that during her two-year tenure as Director for Region II, she would have served those nine (9) countries well in her stewardship.
As part of its commitment to improving the quality of life for all, the Social Security Board supports the attendance of nursing professionals from the ANA at the upcoming conference. The Board feels that the exposure to the knowledge and information shared at this educational conference, as well as the interaction and networking with their peers from the Caribbean and further afield, will be of some benefit to the ANA’s participants, to assist them with improving the standards of nursing care in Anguilla.
