Registration at Community Development Centres

The Department of Youth and Culture wishes to inform the general public that registration for the academic year 2018 – 2019 is now open at the Department of Youth and Culture and the following Community Centres:
Hope Centre – Sandy Hill
Blowing Point Youth Development Centre – Blowing Point
Eleos Centre – Sandy Ground
Island Harbour Care Centre – Island Harbour
These Community Centres will resume their after-school support programmes on September 10th 2018.
Operational hours will be from:
1:00 pm – 5:00 pm at Island Harbour
1:00 pm – 7:00 pm at HOPE and Blowing Point
3:30 pm – 5:30 pm at Eleos
The Centres continue to provide additional support for both Primary and Secondary school students, and are committed to offering a safe study environment where students can work independently or with the assistance of Centre Staff, including teachers and tutors. Primary level students receive support in the areas of Mathematics and numeracy skills, Reading and Language skills as well as Computer Literacy. Centres also support all students with online research to facilitate completion of assignments such as CPEAs and SBAs and provide access to printing facilities.

Parents of secondary school students in particular, are asked to take note that CSEC and CAPE courses will be offered at both the HOPE Centre and the Blowing Point Youth Development Centre. These courses fees are as follows:

• Mathematics Support (Forms 1 – 3)
• CSEC Mathematics Support (Forms 4 – 5)
• English Support (Forms 1 – 3)
• CSEC English Support (Forms 4 – 5)
• CAPE Integrated Mathematics Support – (Form 6)
Persons interested in registering are asked to visit a Centre in their area or contact Centre Managers as follows:
