The Continuing and Professional Education programme is being coordinated by Early Childhood Educator, Mrs. Ellenita Harrigan and will run for one academic year from September 2018 to July 2019. This professional development initiative is collaborative effort between the UWI Open Campus Anguilla, the Organization of Early Childhood Education and Day Care Providers and the Department of Social Development.

The aim is to enhance knowledge and skills, as well as to provide an alternative learning pathway for early childhood workers and others who wish to undertake further studies in early childhood education. It is designed to expose individuals who are new, or are already working in the field, to the fundamentals of early childhood care and education.
The four-course programme includes two practicums and focuses on the basic principles of teaching young children, operating an early childhood institution, health, safety and nutrition, working with Family and Community, as well as the basic needs of children with respect to the Articles of the Convention on the Rights of the Child. Participants may choose to complete one or all four of the courses.
Interested persons are invited to contact the UWI Open Campus at anguilla@open.uwi.edu (telephone 497-8156) for further information.
