Anguilla has lost one of its multi-faceted and highly-respected nationals in the person of Mr. Everet F. Romney, MBE, of Blowing Point Road, but with businesses at South Hill.
Following is the announcement of his passing, from his family, and mention of his varied contributions to the Anguillian community:
“Everet F. Romney MBE born 15 June 1933 died 28 July 2018. The captions of the nine pictures [on Facebook], embody his humbleness, wit, a visionary and thinker!
“He was the founder of: Ship’s Tavern Bar and Restaurant, Romney Home Rentals, Romcan (2012) Ltd – Romcan Mini Market & Car Rental.
“He served as Second Nominated Member Anguilla House of Assembly (1977), Politician (contested General Elections 1972, 1976 and 1994), Director Island Press, Director and First Vice Chairman National Bank of Anguilla, Chairman Anglec, President Rotary Club Anguilla, Congregational Steward and Chairperson Resources & Development Committee, Maranatha Methodist Church.
“He was community minded, a philanthropist, a firm believer in God and a strong family man.
“His legacy will live on! May his Soul Rest In Peace.”
The Anguillian joins all persons in Anguilla in expressing thanks and appreciation to Mr. Romney for his sterling contributions to the island, and offers its heartfelt condolences to his bereaved family and friends.
