Arrival statistics will rise sharply in Anguilla in the coming days with an expected influx of visitors and returning Anguillians from all parts of the world.
The main attraction is the 2018 Anguilla Summer Festival, the first major entertainment event on the island since the destructive Hurricane Irma, in September 2017, which had threatened the holding of the mass cultural function.
The Blowing Port, which provides the main gateway to the island from St. Martin/St. Maarten, will handle most of the arrivals in Anguilla. The Clayton J. Lloyd International Airport will also be relatively busy with additional flights mainly through Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands and Antigua with in transit passengers from the US mainland, Canada, the United Kingdom and Europe.
The Summer Festival will be held from August 1-12 but was preceded by a number of events as a precursor to the actual festival.
The Anguillian takes this opportunity to extend a warm welcome to all visitors and returning nationals, and wishes all and sundry a safe and enjoyable period of cultural celebration.
The office of The Anguillian newspaper will be closed from August 6-l0 during the August holiday week – and will reopen on Monday, August 13, for business. The next edition of the newspaper will be on Thursday/Friday, August 16/17.
