Family and friends gathered at Grillers Restaurant and Bar, at Little Dix, on Sunday, July 29, to pay tribute to Mr. John Hughes of Keys Village, Island Harbour, on his 90th birthday.
The birthday celebrant is a longstanding member of the Mount Fortune Seventh-day Adventist Church where his Sabbath School classmates honoured him the day before.
The lavish spread of food and refreshment was organised by his children, grandchildren and other family members.
A number of persons spoke highly about the retired farmer who gave some interesting insights of his life, and work, including his early sojourn in Wisconsin and Florida where he was recruited to harvest fruit.
The Elected Representative for District 1, Island Harbour and its environs, Ms. Palmovan Webster, and Mr. Othlyn Vanterpool, Ministerial Assistant in the Ministry of Agriculture, were among the large gathering.
