NGO Professional ManagementAs part of its ongoing commitment to present programmes to meet the needs of the community, the UWI Open Campus Anguilla is inviting members of Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) to register for its online Certificate in NGO Professional Management. The two-course programme is aimed at individuals seeking core business knowledge in professional management training in relation to non-government organisations. According to the Manager for the British Overseas Territories, Dr. Phyllis Fleming-Banks, with the role and obligations of NGOs becoming increasingly important, this timely and very relevant programme focuses on a number of core thematic areas: These include the legislative environment, the promotion of greater transparency, project management skills development, enhanced regional policy dialogue and improving access to small grants.

The programme falls under the University’s Continuing and Professional Education programmes and is slated to begin in September 2018. It is being undertaken as part of a partnership arrangement between The University of the West Indies Open Campus and the Caribbean Policy Development Centre and is an initiative under the Civil Society Regional Development Project. The Civil Society Regional Development Project is designed to build capacity of the Non-Governmental Sector in the Caribbean by strengthening the enabling environment within which NGOs presently function.

The deadline for applications for this programme is July 31, 2018 and the UWI Open Campus is inviting interested groups/persons to register online by visiting the website at http://www.open.uwi.edu/programmes/certificate-ngo-professional-management, or calling (264) 497-8156, email anguilla@open.uwi.edu for more information.
