God is able to do anything! Do you believe it? How do you know it is true? Have you heard so, or have you proven it for yourself? What is your personal testimony? Is there something you are facing right now that makes you wonder if God is able to handle it, or if He can do it again? Well, if we only understand who God is, and who we are in Him that will change the way in which we view Him, and the world.
Oftentimes, we say God is big, and powerful, yet we act as though He is small. It is time for us to know that God can do immeasurably more than we ask for or imagine. God is able to do all things, even the impossible. He is the only one that can do anything. It is our faith in God that we must discover or rediscover. Scripture is punctuated with references to God’s omnipotence from beginning to end. Psalm 24:8 says, He is the Lord, strong and mighty. Psalm 62:11 says, “Power belongs to Him”, and Psalm 147:5 says, “Great is our Lord, and abundant in strength”. God wants us to know Him as the God who is able to do anything and have no doubts about it.
Throughout human history, mankind has stood in awe before the mighty power of the natural elements – light so powerful it can blind us, water so powerful it can wash away whole civilizations, wind so powerful it can topple brick and steel buildings, or fire so powerful it can melt rock. We know what power is and what it can do. God himself is the source of that power – in fact of all power, not only in the physical realm, but in the spiritual realm as well where the true nature and extent of power eludes our understanding.
You see, God is omnipotent! That means that He possesses infinite, complete, and perfect power. He can do anything He wants to do – absolutely anything. None of us can make that claim. Our capabilities are limited. But God is able to do everything He wills. God is the El Shaddai – the God who can do anything He wants to do. He directs His own affairs in His time and at any place. That is real power my friends. That very same power raised Christ from the dead is operating in us right (Ephesians 1:19-21) so we have no need to be afraid.
If you are on the brink of despair, because of the death of a loved one, the breaking of a marriage, of a waywardness of a child, or unable to provide your needs, no need to worry, trust God. He is able to meet your needs. If you are anxious because of bad health, do not be anxious, God is able. God has the power and ability to enable you to endure that which you cannot change.
God is able to give us the inner resources to confront the trials and difficulties of this life. Each of us will face circumstances in life which would compel us to carry heavy burdens or sorrow, but God is able to see us through them all. God is able to give us the inner steadfastness to stand tall through the trials and burdens of life. God is able to provide inner peace in spite of outer storms. This inner stability of faith is Christ’s chief legacy to us. He offers neither material resources nor a magical formula that exempts us from suffering, but He brings an everlasting gift, the gift of peace, the peace which surpasses all human understanding.
God is able to do whatever needs to be done in our lives. No other being is all-powerful. No problem is all-powerful. Only God is all-powerful, and He is on our side. His omnipotence is rutted against our problems. The chances in our favour are immeasurable. So next time when you question if God is able in your situations, turn to God’s Word and you will see. Just ask these people:
Jeremiah 32:17 says, “Ah Lord GOD! Behold, Thou hast made the heavens and the earth by Thy great power and by Thine outstretched arm! Nothing is too difficult for Thee”. A God who is able to create everything out of nothing by a word, then continues to hold it all together by a word, is certainly able to do anything else He wants to do, including restoring the nation Israel to her land. God strengthened Jeremiah’s struggling faith by saying to him, “Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh; is anything too difficult for Me?” He replied, No, Lord. Absolutely nothing! Jeremiah saw it for himself that – God is able to do anything.
The Virgin Mary is another example. She questioned God’s spectacular revelation to her. She wondered how she could possibly bear a son when she had never had relations with a man. But it happened by the very same means her cousin Elizabeth would bear a son when she was past the age of child-bearing. It was by the supernatural power of God. The text said, “For nothing will be impossible with God” (Luke 1:37). That verse literally says, “For no word from God shall be without power.” That puts the whole matter right where it belongs, in the realm of God’s omnipotence. He has the power to do whatever He says He is going to do. If He wants to plant a child in the womb of a virgin, He can do it. And He did do it, giving the world a divine Saviour.
The disciples too, in Mark 10:27, were disturbed when Jesus told them how difficult it would be for a rich man to enter the kingdom of Heaven. They asked rather hopelessly, “Then who can be saved?” That was when they got a decisive lesson on God’s omnipotence. Jesus, looking upon them, said, He is able to do anything He pleases, and He longs for us to know Him as the omnipotent God as well. So my friends never forget:
? God Is Able to Supply Our Needs
? God Is Able to Heal Our Diseases
? God Is Able to Save Us Completely
? Go Is Able to Keep Us from Sin and
? God Is Able to Deliver Us from Death
Remember: God is able to do everything, even the impossible, and God is able to love you even when you feel unlovable. So, if God is all you have, you have all you need.
