The Anguilla-based International Wines and Spirits distributor (IWAS) has officially launched its platinum-sponsored August Monday Caribbean Beach Party to be held at Road Bay, Sandy Ground, as a significant part of the Anguilla Summer Festival.
Speaking at the press launch on Tuesday evening, July 10, at the company’s office in The Valley the owner, Ms. Mirabelle West, told media representatives: “As the platinum sponsor, I am very happy to welcome you all here for the official launch with remarks by Briggy Tomlinson, Director of BP Services, who will be producing the event. We also have representatives in the form of the Chairperson of the Anguilla Festival Committee; the Department of Youth and Culture which plays a big part in our Summer Festival and cultural activities, as well as a presence from the Anguilla Tourist Board.” She noted that all of them were involved in festivities and other events which tied in with the overall tourism product of the island.
She added: “On behalf of the Brand, Heineken and Captain Morgan, we are very pleased to be partnering again this year, and we are very happy to have everyone here to kick-start an event on August 6.”
Mr. Tomilson commended IWAS for continuing its sponsorship of the event. He was pleased the Anguilla Tourist Board, represented by its Assistant Marketing Manager, Mr. Jameel Rochester, was again one of the sponsors. He said that as a result of Hurricane Irma, this year presented a challenge to the Summer Festival and the Caribbean Beach Party.
Mr. Tomlinson stressed: “I am committed to making the event happen, and we need to make it happen because we cannot stop and hope that next year we are going to come back stronger than we were this year, so I think the party must go on. Irrespective of the challenges, I think we will overcome them because we have IWAS and its partners coming on board. It helps us to move the whole process forward. It is again my pleasure to present, this year, the August Monday Caribbean Beach Party. I think we have done fairly well in putting together a package that I am sure everybody will enjoy.” He promised to offer the public a lower price than the fees charged by the visiting artistes from Trinidad, France and elsewhere.
Mr. Jameel Rochester commented that the Anguilla Tourist Board recognised the importance of supporting events like the Caribbean Beach Party with the potential to strengthen Anguilla’s tourism product. “The Board of Directors and the staff are committed to offering moral and financial support to the Summer Festival,” he stated. “We are a proud sponsor of the August Monday Caribbean Beach Party and boat-racing for the 2018 Anguilla Summer Festivities. On behalf of my team, I would like to wish everyone a happy and safe Summer Festival.”
Director of Youth and Culture, Mr. Bren Romney, expressed appreciation for the ongoing partnership that IWAS and its sponsoring partners brought to the Anguilla Summer Festival. He offered hearty thanks, on behalf of the Minister of Culture, to Ms. Mirabelle West for her involvement in and contribution to the Summer Festival.
Ms Lisa Rey, Chairperson of the Anguilla Summer Festival Committee, joined in thanking Ms. West and the company’s brands for their platinum sponsorship. “We understand your contribution and are grateful that you never ceased to extend your sponsorship to the Summer Festival, and we also commend all our sponsors for especially this year with the financial shortfall.”
More information on the sponsorship of IWAS, and other matters, will be reported later on in The Anguillian newspaper.
